What is IV Therapy
Intravenous (IV) therapy involves the administration of fluids, medications, nutrients, or blood products directly into a person’s bloodstream through a vein. This method allows for a rapid and efficient delivery of substances, bypassing the digestive system.
IV therapy is commonly used in various medical settings, including hospitals, clinics, and, in some cases, specialized IV therapy centers.
COMMON TYPES OF IV THERAPY THAT WE PROVIDE
Fluid Replacement
Purpose: Used to treat dehydration, restore electrolyte balance, and maintain adequate fluid levels in the body.
Composition: Typically consists of sterile saline solution or a combination of electrolytes.
Medication Administration
Purpose: Rapid delivery of medications when immediate therapeutic effects are needed or when oral administration is not feasible.
Examples: Antibiotics, pain relievers, antiemetics, and certain other drugs.
Nutrient Infusions
Purpose: Administer essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system for improved absorption.
Composition: May include vitamins such as B-complex, vitamin C, minerals like magnesium, and other nutrients.
Iron Infusion
Purpose: Treat iron deficiency anaemia when oral iron supplements are not well-tolerated or ineffective.
Composition: Intravenous iron preparations.
It’s important to note that while IV therapy is a valuable medical intervention, it should be administered by qualified healthcare professionals in appropriate medical settings. The choice of IV therapy depends on the specific medical condition and treatment goals of the individual patient.
